The one with yellow was sold as wild caught from peru by wetspot but who knows and who knows if the importer truly caught them in the wild or had them in a pond. Anyway was kind of curious.
The other fish with true red was sold as an f1 from aquaclarity.
I sent wetspot an email to see if they...
I will note that the behavior of my a. winkelfleck changed when i moved them from a 29 to a 90; There are two adult females and a male and there was some aggression (though no obvious damage beyond stress in 13 months); when i moved them into the 90 the non breeding female simply moved to the...
So i picked up a pair of very young niijjensi 2 of 3 weeks ago - they are about 4/9 to 1/2 full grown and i noticed one odd thing - the male colouring is wrong:
I didn't buy them to breed and i wish my other fishes would breed but because the others won't breed these guys quickly...
I have successfully mixed breeding dwarf cichild; but in very large aquariums. In my 180 i've seen the l. araguaiae breed several time - though the fry only last a few days as i don't add food for them after all who uses a 180 as a breeding aquarium that tank has 7 keyholes though after 18...
rummy and several other tetra like to pray on fry and this will cause a lot of distress as the female try to protect them. If you want a tetra i've had good success with embers.
The picture makes it hard to see 3d but it looks like a scrape with the skin missing. If that is accurate some fungus might form (don't treat) and it will regrow and then the fungus will disappear on its own. If it is on the surface and not a scrape it might be bacteria.
Ok. I think i have a plan - the winkies will get the 90 pretty much to themselves. I have at least one very nice young male fry so we will try a small colony. The d39 will get the winkies 29 and everyone will be happy.
A couple of my aquarium have higher ec than expected and i'm trying to figure out why.
One of them has an ec of around 55 and ph around 6.8; i did an api test this morning and gh was around 3 and kh was below 1; i had presumed that if rock or substrate leached it would be kh and not gh; but...
Would d39 work better ? They are at least in a different lineage and a bit smaller though i guess the general body shape is the same. THe only other fish i can think of is a. lineta but they require warmer water and aren't readily available (been looking for them for about 3 years now).

I'm upgrading my winkelfleck aquarium from 29 to 100 (48x24) and wanted some feedback on if it is feasible to mix these two species in an aquarium of that size. My understanding is that both species are relatively peaceful and they are in different complex so cross breeding shouldn't be an...
So you would need at least 6 feet to have a chance for 2 males; not a small area. I could try two males in my discus tank which is 6 feet long and 2 feet wide but i rather put a single male in a 20 long where i could care for it properly.
Aquarium size? Also is there known data how large their territory is - i.e, if they were in a 10ftx4ft aquarium would death/stress still occur? How about 6ftx2ft or 4ftx4ft or ..... If i remember correctly your aquarium was relatively small. Having said that there are species that want 10 sqft...
With the water yes; but the larger tetra will prey on fry if your intention is for them to breed and the cory will cause a lot of frustration and aggression for most dwarf cichild.
