iF you have male and female there will be problems with the cory and any other fish that stay in the lower 4 or 5 inches of water - so hopefully you have two males. Also they might go after the neon tetra if they enter lower waters....
Actually using a flashlight on the large male he looks a lot like the first male on tom's website which has almost no red but the blue/yellow is filling in nicely.
Was trying to get a good picture of the dominant male norbertii during water change but he was too busy patrolling (he's not shy at all but he moves a lot); so i took these two instead:
This is a e. parviflorus tropicall; the only real thing to note about it is that conversion from emersed to...
Another very passive species you could consider if availalbe:
a. pucallpaensis
These are i believe under-rated readily available in many areas and passive. I kept a small group in a 10.
As for oto; the bigger trap is the idea they eat algae. They will graze will algae is as well as decaying...
One thing i wanted to point out is the floor space is 27x21 and while the overall shape is not great the floor space is suitable for non-aggressive smaller species presuming it is well scaped. Personally i prefer 48x24 (my units are inches); but i've had ok success with 30x12 (20 long or 29)...
Of the species you named borelli is the best bet esp if you want multiple male/female; though I would start with a male/female and then keep some of the frys forming a colony.
Given how unrelated the pictured species is to the sent fish I would request a refund. The fish you received is not a bad fish but it is certainly not the one you ordered. Having said that had you recieved a. lineta i doubt it would be that colourful.
Two more pictures - these are tank from the left side going inwards - the first one is front heavy the 2nd one is middle but as the plant density increases the vision is obstructed:
Kind of weird looking at the full image from the front the plant density sort of disappear but when taking...
This is the 55/60 where i keep these fishes if anyone want to suggest improvements; or comments. In general i'm finding this species very very docile with an occasional display between two males but otherwise not much else:
Above is full aquarium - on the right behind it you see the 65 which...
When searing for something else i found this post from last year:
https://www.instagram.com/kevins.flossengenossen/p/DJJ_5BKoytl/?img_index=1
They describe it as a new species sp trombetas #3 but i don't see reference to it on Tom's website so i'm curious if it was a known species under a...
I'm leaning towards this being a female from the first two pictures but then i look at the third and i blink:
It has a soft pattern on the tail and it lacks the vertical bars the obvious male has (my male has not developed red tail like some pictures i've seen).
Yea i found a. pucallpaensis work pretty well in a 10; the biggest negatives is the f1 were a lot smaller. They are not bad looking fishes; inexpensive and generally readily availble. They are also not blackwater fish and my wc pair did well in 140 tds (kh 3 gh 6) and readily bred.
Just an updated picture - always amaze me how these folks use leaves. Unfortunately when i got closer to take a better picture he was spooked:
One of the young norbert male no colouring yet:
different aquarium - one of the dm:
I think i have 5 male and 1 female dm the males are all around...
Yea to be honest the one i had confirmed as female was the most aggressive. For a while i thought she was nesting but i haven't seen her now for a week; nor the 2nd confirmed female so not 100% sure what is happening. I just see two one that is a clear male and one that i'm undecided on.
Another one i had put in a 10 to grow out has a blue line sailed fin but no colouring on the face.
Not sure why - maybe the aquarium is too warm at 79 but i seem to be male heavy.
Updated pictures of f1 showing a wide variance in colour. While this group has so far proven very docile with regards to aggression between adults they don't really like to sit still and pose for images; note that the parents earlier in this thread have no visible colour on their face while some...
These are lousy pictures but here are some f1 which show variance in facial colouring (note the original parents had none); some are blue/green speckled and some have a lot of red - btw so far this species has been very very docile with regard to aggression with some either near or adult f1s...
Here is the picture of the female i added - she is I think the same species because the caudal spot has the same weird shape:
At least when i'm in the room there has been no interaction between her and the male; the other female i removed.
