I recently noticed this lump on the right side of my Apistogramma Agassizii female. Not showing any signs of discomfort, in fact I have never seen her so bright and vividly coloured and healthy. Anyone seen this before? Fed on variety of flake, freeze dried bloodworms, freeze dried tubifex and...
Just a quick update - tank been up and running for a week or so now. Decided on a loose amazon theme rather than getting too strict about the accuracy of the biotope. Currently housing:
1 x Apistogramma Agassizii Female (my male died before the new tank was ready)
4 x Neon tetras
5 x Serpae...
Hey thanks for the response I checked out the site but as I live in the UK would probe expensive ordering from US site I think. Thanks for the plant ID

On day 10 of the cycle - Nitrite and Nitrates both off the scale..Ammonia starting to drop...not much longer to wait I hope! Added some bogwood and a small piece of floating water sprite to help things along..
I believe they are Double Reds and would like a community tank with a less is more feel. Will keep the 10 gallon as a fry tank on the off chance that they do spawn and I can rescue any.
I recently acquired a 64 litre aquarium which I plan on setting up as a biotope housing a pair of apistogramma agassizii. It is only on day 2 of fishless cycling so have plenty of time to slowly set everything up. At the moment it is bare with just play pit sand I plan on adding some driftwood...
I'm currently cycling a 64 litre aquarium with a similar setup in mind and I was curious - are you going to provide caves for example coconut shells or would a dense arrangement of redmoor offer enough cover for your apistogramma?
so do you think a daily rotation of frozen bloodworms, freeze dried tubifex and frozen daphnia would be too much? or keep it to feeding every other day with daily flake for my neons and serpaes?
would be interested in your mix recipe. does it not just disintegrate in the water? i have frozen daphnia and bloodworms as well as freeze dried bloodworms and tubifex. getting hold of earth worms shouldn't be difficult. do you literally just mix it all together ?
Just wondered what peoples experience is with the NLS pellets? I've been trying to feed the 1mm sinking chiclhid pellets for a few months now and I can't be sure if my Apistos are actually eating the things or just blowing dust around the tank. They certainly rush to suck them into their mouths...
agree with Mike on the black background - I went the ghetto route and just used a section of black bin liner fastened to the back of my tank - looks great.
