Hatching BBS is easy and cheap - you only need a plastic drinks bottle, an airline, some salt, baking soda and a lamp! Have a look at this vid:
I feed my cory fry BBS and they eat it until their bellies go orange :)
Finally got my tank pretty much just how I want it so thought I would share some pics with you.
Currently housing a pair of Apistogramma Cacatuoides Orange Flash, 5 x Bronze Corydoras and 6 x Neon Tetra.
Also the eggs that I am using at the moment are pretty poor (budget ebay purchase) and are taking 48 hours to hatch. Is it true that BBS lose their nutritional value after 8 hours? If this is the case am I wasting my time feeding them on the second day before the new batch hatches?
You could also try making caves from a coconut shell for a more natural look you just drill a hole in the side and cut in half to make your two caves. Also adds tannins to the water which your fish will love and I think I'm right in saying that the shells will harbour micro organisms that the...
Tap water is slightly hard here - always struggled to get PH to drop under 7.2.
I have about 15 alder cones and 5 oak leaves in at present (15 gallons).

Yes she's colouring up nicely after feeding BBS - lots of activity between the pair and yes I have 2 coconut caves although the male has taken up an area around the filter / under a blanket of floating plants as his favourite spot.
Just picked this pair up this week male looks a bit thin and pale and wouldn't eat for a few days but have slowly got him to accept bloodworm and now BBS so hope to get him into condition soon :)
Just a quick question and sorry to sound dumb but I would like to do things right. After a lot of reading online I see that most successful apisto keepers are feeding their fish on a diet of either exclusively or predominately baby brine shrimp. I have a bottle hatchery setup and can turn around...
I noticed today there is what looks like the end of a small white thread emerging from the lump almost like a spot that needs squeezing if you would excuse the image that puts in your head it is the only way I can describe it! I was advised not to feed for a couple of days ?
