Very complete explanation and good you know Hernando without even needing to name him, lol. You're right about not mixing them as these two might be from same family but look greatly different tbh. It's more the two known forms of allpahuayo which shouldn't be mixed. I've never seen any of these...
Thanks Mike I agree the first one could be A. cf. personata but is the second fish same as the first one? They're not daniel's but another Colombian collector. He said he collected these in Rio iniridae.
Glad you collected the viejita for us Daniel and Tom H. Imported them to the UK, not sure if you remember me from the conversation we had on fb or not? Lol and hope we could get A. sp. mitu to the UK sometime soon too. :)
Hi these are from a friend of mine from Colombia. He wants to find out what species are they? I'm guessing the last one is A. Megaptera? But not sure of the other ones? Maybe the first one is A. cf. personata? Can anyone help please?
Hi Mike. That's what I thought too. The above male also has a fairly odd body shape. They were collected in Peru this year and been imported to the UK. I might be able to ask the seller about the location if he knows. But they were labeled as bitaeniata shushupe.
Hi,
There was a bit of confusion around this bitaeniata I had for sometime now. The surely male is in the first picture but the second one is somehow unclear to me. The fish is around 4-4.5cm and shows more yellow on fins yet I think it's a subdominant male, what do you think?
After months of chasing to find out who was the exporter of this fish, I have finally found the Colombian guy and we managed to import this fish to the UK through a local importer who imported around 10 pairs of this and here is mine! (sorry for bad pictures, I am not a good photographer and...
Really if I wanted to do whatever I wanted to, I would never asked for advise. I will take your advise, as I said I am not planning on mixing anything and have been looking for a female. I also understand keeping an opposite sex wont keep my fish happier as he has been with me for a few months...
I know a hobbyist who is a friend of mine and is keeping A. Cf. huascar. He got them from Tom, so what you say is it's fine to mix them? Worth mentioning cf. huascar has some marking difference on the body with the actual huascar based on what Tom mentioned on his website.
Haha, fair enough! No I won't! I will keep searching for a female. I know Tom C entered cf. huascar in the hobby before. If ever I could get my hands on one female of cf. huascar, do you think it is as bad as keeping an atahualpa with the male? Or the cf. huascar would be fine? Consider, I'm not...
