Check this out: I got a bunch of wild Scriptaphyosemion geryi killifish from Jeff. After being in the aquarium for a few days and seemly doing fine, one point , one-by -one, all the killifish started jumping out of the water and sticking themselves on the glass sides of the aquarium. They...
Sorry, Phil, a bid placed on them on Aquabid, within an hour of their being listed, so it is too late to pull the auction. There is still plenty of time until the auction closes (several days- I think it closes Sunday afternoon) so please feel free to bid on them, should you decide to get an...
Hi all,
I'm moving out my wild breeders to make room for growing fry. I have limited tank space, so it's just gotta happen. Your gain - this wild pair of A. gephyra is a real beauty! They were imported earlier this year from Rio Negro, Brazil. They have matured into a stunning pair of...
Just a quick note: I ordered two of the A. agassizii 'Blue' from Ted. Unfortunately my choice of 2nd day express was unwise due to the really cold temps up in the northern and mid west and the fish did not survive the shipment. However, I can say they are probably some of the nicest apistos I've...
Here is an interesting forum thread about Nanacara. Check out the third photo down - N. aureocephalus huge old male!
Also, apparently a lot of variation in populations from stream to stream. You have a really good population!
Up for sale is this one pair of Congochromis dimidiatus http://www.apistogramma.com/forum/threads/wild-congochromis-dimidiatus.18647/. I have to make room for growing out fry of several species, and need to find a new home for this pair - otherwise I would keep them.
They are wild caught...
Thanks, Mike. You are right - he is apparently the manager of the FW fish section. Looks like AquaTek carries a nice selection of species including apistos.
Well, the funny thing for me in watching this video was, that when I saw the speaker's initials on the drawn picture, I wondered if he was a younger (and heavier) Mike Wise! He certainly demonstrated the exceptional knowledge and experience of collecting apistos and had the correct initials...
Stumbled upon this video of an informative talk given by a highly knowledgable collector of apistogrammas about collecting Apistogramma in the Upper Orinoco. At one point in the talk he shows a slide of a picture he drew of an apisto he collected. The initials on the drawing are very visibly -...
Thanks for the info. The ones pictured look pretty good - scales, color and form all look good. If wild great! If Czech - they have a nice looking strain ;). ncognto, are you in the U.S.?
The reason I'm asking is the A. (0r P.) luxophthalmus luxophthalmus tend to have more clear fins, whereas the A. luxophthalmus hannerzi tend to have orange/red in the fins, from what I can tell. So I'm just wondering what sp. you might have.
Thanks for checking when you get a chance.
