Sooo cool!! You guys are rock stars!! All your collection points that mudded up? Would that make netting easier or are they overly alert due to poor visibility?
Think the badis would just get beat or chomped. Don't let their small stature fool you, they go hard.. neither would back down in a territorial dispute and the apistos would.win that battle 10/10
Ime this would be the end of the road for a gbr. Once they start scooting there's not much that can be done. Could simply be constipated, look bloated at all?
Here's a vid from a while back when I was still "learning". Tank is nasty, watch the whole video, last 30 seconds get intense. This wasn't even close.to the worst of it. They were wc if that makes a difference. Male was in the algae mountain on the right.. Battle rams:
That tank could become a war zone. Tons of structure and tall plants will be needed to break up territories and line of sight. Female rams are freaking vicious when in spawn..
I keep cacs with rasboras and tetras. No firsthand with your situation but I'd say in a 55 gal with a lot of tall plants and a lot of ground cover it could be done.. i know rainbows are highly energetic, not sure if they'll actively group hunt fry like tetras do.
I would never do this if the sole purpose of the tank was fry production. It is a display afterall and I do like nifty fish. If anyone looks to be suffering at the fins of another I will take immediate necessary action to remedy the situation.
Short of the long... yes! Well if you don't like algae farms. Ferts aside.. if their is too much light present and not enough co2 algae will often take over the tank which can kill plants and even fish (oxygen depletion) this would be an extreme case of neglect though.
Excellent point. perhaps a Sandy bottom open tank with lots of.leaf litter and little structure would be better? Something that is constantly shifting and changing..
