Got these 2 the other day but both look like males to me as they ate showing the same coloration.
The fish in the second photo is a little stressed due to his tankmate and myself trying to get a decent shot of him.
It would probably be best to find someone with a better low range test or possibly a ph meter to see just how low it really is. How long are running the drip?
Thanks, the tank is quite heavily planted especially with the watersprite that has recently exploded. I'll try to get a few more photos up soon.
Now for a little update, the eggs and female are no longer on the leaf and I only se her for a split second as she comes out to grab a few daphnia...
He does seem to be the devil incarnate, we had a goldfish survive and seemingly pick up aggressive/carnivorous habits from the green and red terrors so maybe this guy picked up a few bad habits too. Either way he is getting his own tank just in case.
When I got to the store they were just about to move him to his own tank, I guess he was killing the red devils and hoarding the food. Are the normally this bullish ? He displays and attacks the glass when I check on him.
How's it going Phil, you starting back up? Try talking to Marty or Warren, they may know of a source or call Dale and Chris down at Fantastic Fins in Livonia, they can get just about anything you're looking for. Ted even featured their store in his video from his recent visit to Detroit.
This bill has to be the biggest load that I have ever seen. I have seen petitions on the counter of every pet store I've been in(and I sign everyone). Michigan may be in a huge economic hole, but our stores are still full, take that away and who knows what'll happen.
Due to space issues I mix Apistos, the only one that gets it's own tank are the Cacatuoides. They seem to grow alot faster than most other Apistos and tend to eat them(then they grow really fast).
I stripped 3 more females lastnight. They don't seem to be very productive( 15-20 fry each), but the numbers are easier to manage. Unlike my Nicholsi which I swear beat my Convicts in spawning frequency.
It was not my intent to infuriate you to the point that you would be wasting your time here. Maybe it was you wording, but your post did come across as you saying that there was now way that there could be a Biotoecus sp. from the Rio Tapajos. Maybe if something like "although there is...
There are fish with typical patterns, missing a lateral spot on one side or the other, no markings on the belly and of course no body markings. It is very odd.
