The Hongsloi I have do not seem to care to much about water but with that being said, I do have soft water from my tap, tds about 70, ph around 6.7-6.9 depending on the day, my GH is around 4, KH about 0.
Welcome ninebit, are they showing any sign of breeding? What size tank? It does not happen all the time but I have one female Hongsloi that after the male does his job she has no more use for him and she starts hunting the male and I need to remove him once he is done.
Like said, I would remove the neon's and pleco, if you have trouble breeding because of water issues, you might try rain water mixed with your local water. Good luck and welcome to the sight.
I agree with it's easy to flood the market, I've done it here where I live, with kribs and Cacatuides. Now when they want 20 I tell them I have10 or 12. The market here was 3.00 per [apisto] fish [not happy], I have been getting 5-$7.00 and they turn around and sell them for $15..

Do you have another establisher tank for the male if you decide to breed?
Every batch I have of apisto's, kribs or angles, I get runts, I cull the ones that dont make it and move on. As far as if they will produce young of normal size I have no idea.
Welcome to the sight Jose, I use smaller tanks for breeding but I remove the male/all fish from the tank as soon as I see fry brought out, and let the female tend to them. in a tank that small I rarely ever see a pair that is compatible and if you do the next batch of egg's I've seen them do a...
