    Favorite Apistogramma

For me the more lushly finned Apistogramma's that, according to me also have a typical friendly facial expression (if such exists): the iniridae group: uaupesi, flabellicauda, lineata, sp. Blutkehl, iniridae etc.

    A. flabellicauda female turns into male

Less than a year ago I received a pair of these beautiful Apisto's. See picture. The male was very eager to please the female. She did not exactly feel the same about him. Three months of this fruitless cohabitation made me purchase another male. The same story unfolded: an eager male continuous...

Thanks Frank, and Mac. Most likely agassizi lineage. That's something at least, for now. Further determination may take years yet.

    Apistogramma D52

Text still jumps from pag 93 to 103. I fail to get the full text. Maybe since I am retired and no longer execute a schientific job? I can only log in to get a specific article. But even then I get no more than described extract.

    Apistogramma flabellicauda breathing heavily

Sorry to hear that. Perhaps choose a less delicate dwarf cichlid? Good that the cardinals are keeping well.

    Apistogramma flabellicauda breathing heavily

How is the situation with the male now? And the cardinals?

    Apistogramma flabellicauda breathing heavily

Grasping for air was meant as a matter of speech, but is inaccurate of course. Heavy breathing, as you call it, is equally worrisome I would say. Too much carbondioxide or too little oxygen? Aeration can be tried. Did you put a lot of dead wood and leaves at once in the tank?

    Apistogramma flabellicauda breathing heavily

One dead fish may be bad luck, but all fish in the tank grasping for 'air' is unlikely to be a matter of bad luck only.

Is there such a thing as too much baby brine shrimp?

Frozen, nutritionally just as good as fresh I assume, but not so fast (grin)

Is there such a thing as too much baby brine shrimp?

My 30 days old A.sp. Juruá have lived on BBS only until 3 days ago. I now alternate a BBS meal with a meal of the tiniest cyclops. It is excellent exercise for the fry as cyclops are fast and often successfully avoid being eaten. The fry have to really hunt for a meal. It is a pleasure to see...

    Recent purchases and fry

November and December last year I was lucky enough to get hold of 4 A. psammophila, (of which I sent some pictures before, when they were still minute). Three males and one female I can now establish. Furthermore A. sp. Jurua (sp. cruzeiro), a couple and A. flebellicauda, a couple. The A...
