I've heard of some dealers in the UK having them, but they are certainly not easily obtainable here.
My friend had a couple of them which sadly turned out to be 2 females.
Hi Blueblue, I got females with different side spot patterns all in the same spawn from a female who had a perfect large spot on both sides of the body.
Your pic didn't work for me.
Here in the UK A.cacatuoides is the most widely available Apisto and often seem in a few colour variants.
My local fish store usually has them for 13-15 UK Pounds for a pair. That would be about $22-25US or 18-21 Euros.
They may be common but cacatuoides...
Thanks for that.
I've had them quite a while now and no action, I'll stick with them and try adding another female if any turn up in the shops.
When I had N.multifasciatus the bred like mad and I soon ended up with a brilliant colony of them. Unfortunately, a broken heater killed them all...
Hi All,
I've two N.brevis, had them for at least 6 months. No sign of any spawning activity. They live in harmony with no sign of the bigger, obvious male beating up the smaller one.
These pics show the smaller fish looking fatter than normal as they had just had a big meal.
Anyone...
When I bred and raised nijsseni fry the females had various blotch markings on them.
Some females had a big blotch on both sides, some only had a blotch on one side, some had no blotch on the sides.
I still think that only the first picture is a male.
I think nijsseni have a bit of a reputation for being better in pairs.
Your 2x1x1' tank may result in the "spare" female being harassed or killed. I'd stick with a single pair.
Sorry, dont think so at all. Lots of pics of N.anomala here http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-05,GGLD:en&q=nannacara%20anomala&sa=N&tab=wi
What are the dimensions of the tank? I've bred Apistos in 18x10x10" tanks. Males may need to be removed though if they squabble.
Bigger is definitley better of course. Perfect size for a single pair is probably 24x12x12"
Panduro can be quite aggressive until the pair settle down, so...
