So I went into the tank as I noticed my water circulation pump wasn't working. Must have just got jammed. It's in the back corner near some wood and filter inlets. Something kept banging against my hand quite hard when I was wiggling it to get it working again.
Sooo... I got my torch out and...
In the process of making a new opening bit for the lid to create better ventillation and replce the one that cracked, let mold in and was pretty much destroyed. Contemplating some red-eyed tree frog in here shortly.
Interesting read and nice tank. If you have hatchets in there, I assume the gap from the surface, to the top of the tank is quite high. Have you considered keeping splash tetras, Copella arnoldi? I have a 5 foot setup which is a riparium of sorts I guess and they spawn in here from time to...
Very interesting. It was your fish that inspired me to buy Farlowella. Only got 2 left now, but no sign of spawning yet (plus I have no idea what gender they are!).
Thinking about it though - do as you have been doing as they spawned already. What type of leaf was it, where abouts vertically in the aquarium was it? You could then either remove the leaf once they've laid, hatch the fry in a tub and then transfer them to a grow out tank, or, use a...
Sorry, I haven't bred this genus before. You could try some of the things TomC does with Copella. It's mentioned in a splash tetra thread somewhere on here.
A pair of Apistos labelled up as A. pertensis. They're quite young and one is definitely male. Not sure about the other yet.
Saw lots of fish I'd like but pretty limited as to what I can fit in at the moment. Was tempted by the Dicrossus warzeli but couldn't justify the price when I don't really...
Cheers, I'll have to have a close look at mine as I have forgotten which they are. They were all hiding in the leaf litter last night so couldn't see properly.
I'll look into going up there as wouldn't mind looking around and their list of apistos looks good.
If I can catch mine I'm tempted to...
Cheers. You can tell from the tail patterns which are which. TomC has a good diagram on his site. I was just looking at Aqualife and it's looking good. I was looking into the train and it's about 16 quid from here and takes about 2 hours, but may try and make it over. Suppose I could take my...
Now this is interesting! I've had A. agassizi spawn near the surface. Will have to keep an eye as I have 1 female and 2 males in a community tank. I'll keep looking higher up for eggs now! Do you know whether yours are Colombian or Venezuelan? Also, do you know what the water parameters were...
I recently bought some N. rubrocaudatus, so am hoping to be able to keep them ok. Had never taken an interest in pencils until I swapped a load of Poecillia wingei fry at an lfs for some N. beckfordi. Have liked pencils ever since. Only have those two species and N. eques (which were exhibiting...
