    Sp Rotflecken

To get the best books Rusty you will need deep pockets at the end of the month. Ive had mine for years and they have been bought a bit at a time.. digital meters..

Yep, its a case of you get what you pay for. In my opinion its worth the extra to buy a Hanna PH meter, mine measures PH and temp.. The cheaper PH meters are calibrated by a screw and are almost impossible to get anywhere approaching a accurate reading. I use a cheap TDS meter(Hong kong...

    Copella arnoldi..

I know its nothing particulary new but these fish facinate me, ive been breeding them seriously for around 12 months and currently have well over 1000 in the fishroom at all ages and sizes. They are prolific spawners and its not unusual to get a clutch of eggs everyday, certainly every two days...

    Apistogramma barlowi

Nice fish and still not overly common. My A.barlowi raised every brood by mouthbrooding and never resorted to standard fry care. My fish were all kept over fine sand. I hate to start of a sex debate but that last fish looks like a male to me..

How to mimic deep leaf litter?

Hi all, only just caught up with this very interesting thread.. Ted, is the above a result of the fishes difficulty or a lack of fish in captivity? i would imagine it would be the latter surely? if there were larger numbers supplied to interested breeders im sure we would see more spawnings...

    Apistogramma sp 'Kelleri'

Just a quick update to this thread.. Around 2 months ago i lost all 5 of my adult fish over the space of 5-6 weeks, nothing wrong with the tanks or fish just simply old age, the fish were very large fully grown adults when we received them in April 2010 and they did well to survive a year in...

    Triggering Apisto Agassizi Spawn

Just re-read your original post and the water looks ideal with the RO that you use, have you then measured this in the tank after 24 hours and then 48 hours ect? id guess that decor is causing problems.. Also 3 female Apistogramma in a tank that small is not really recomended, id remove two...

    Triggering Apisto Agassizi Spawn

Nice tank but setup completely wrong for breeding Apistogramma, you need caves with much smaller entrances and a finer substrate.. If you look at their natural habitat you will see why, they live over sand and fallen leaf litter and hide amongst fallen wood in small shallow streams, this water...
