I would give the pair whenever the buyer wanted to. If he/she accepts the delay, than its okay to see what the pair will do with the eggs and fry. It would probably be beneficial for the buyer to wait too, because he/she will know if the pair can take care of fry succesfully or not. If yes, then...
Summer slapped the aquariums with heat again this year. My aquariums are between 26-28 degrees celcius, I have no problem with summer, an apisto owner I know has 33-38 degrees celcius at his aquarium! His aquarium temperature goes up and down between these degrees.
I think it normally is...
I think I saw a blonde native Amazonian at the middle of the video for a brief moment. I must be seeing things. :D Glorious aquarium, fish and child! :p Just the floating leaf clusters are looking a little weird right now.
BBS are freshly hatched live ones.
As I said, some fry weren't eating even before I used a drug to kill the hydra. The chance of the drug being a problem is the slimmest.
Now, after 7-10 days of the beginning of the problem, most or all of the fry seem to be eating BBS again. Some of them are...
They look pretty dang colorful to me, hot fish!:D I am bored of all the P. kribensis in my country...
Good luck with growing the fry. Are you planning to keep some fry for yourself any breed new generations, do some "inbreeding"?
My Apistogramma fry are now 1 month old and they grew 1 cm long and bigger (3/8-1/2 inch, their size varies). Until now they mostly ate BBS / Artemia and rarely dry baby flakes. Now, all of a sudden they started to eat and just spit out the BBS. For last 2-3 days there were some fry that did not...
I do not really know much about hybrids, but some people I know who bred hybrids claim that the offspring looks either like the mother, or he father (in terms of their species). This doesn't really sound logical to me considering mammal and reptile hybrids, but I don't know about hybridizing...
It would be best for the eggs/fry to move the other fish that can disturb/hunt the eggs/fry to another tank. If you can't do that, then you can move the eggs/fry and the mother to another tank with the water from the main tank, BUT if you do that, then the mother MAY eat the eggs/fry due to stress.
I have some 1 week old apisto fry and I need to have BBS every day of course. I did hatch BS eggs only twice untill today. With that I mean, I fed the babies with 0 to 4 days old BBS, but I learned that this is not the best way to feed the fry. So, how can I feed the fry with BBS in the best...
My female Pebas does the same move when the male comes close to her. I thought she was just being territorial but it turned out that she had fry in her coconut cave. She was not really all day waiting in her cave either, so there may be fry somewhere in your tank too. Maybe.
Welcome! I am new to this forum too actually. :) I went to Finland, Helsinki once in 2012 (Suomi mainittu, torilla tavataan!:D) and visited two pet shops. They had some interesting fish and products that I have never seen in my country (Turkey) ever. It looked like a lovely country for...
Today I realized that right pectoral fin root of my female apisto has some swollen pink meat with a curved red line. I don't know for how long she had that, but right now I can at least see that she doesn't use her right fin fully. So, it makes a disturbance for her.
She has some fry and the...
The male doesn't show his markings clearly. I can't take a better shot than the ones in the earlier posts. I will share more if he shows his markings more clearly.
I found her babies just after sharing these photos, so she really is in her brood dress. They are A. cf. ortegai (Pebas) then.
Thank you! Now I have to grow some babies. :D
I won't be at home for a week. I can take and share better photos of the female next week, hopefully.
Thanks again, for the information on species and collectors.
Thank you! I think the male resembles a lot to some "Pebas" examples, but not that much to A. ortegai since he doesn't have any reddish colors on his fins or body. Though, I am yet just an apprentice with Apistos and never certain with my own identification.
It would be unfortunate if they are...
