I generally don't use meds unless I'm sure of what fish are Ill with but I didn't want to lose my male. If it's a reoccurring problem replacement fish are cheaper than meds. As harsh as that might sound that is the reality
Hi all
I have a 200l apistogramma tank with one wc male one wc female 3 tank bred females and some very small blue eyed killis. Over the last few months I've been battling an algae problem from moving house I now have a lot more natural light anyway I have had a struggle with maintaining the...
IM still not adamant that it's male or female it shows strong orange colours sometimes in its dorsal and red in tail which are traits I haven't seen in any previous females I've owned and only in males. All of my fish come from one guy who has a small shop and I'm pretty friendly with them. Now...
Also I have owned a full sized adult macmasteri male and he was nearly twice the length of both female a strong couple of inches so I do know the size he will be but here is a shot of them together so you can gauge the size difference between them. Compared to my first male he is tiny
I lost a female a while ago and bought this one for my male. The male harassed her so bad I had barely seen her in a couple of months, well recently my male died from a internal parasite which I couldn't fend off! When this happened I rescaped the tank and done large water changes. The female of...
They are both males my friend sorry to disappoint but I would say almost definitely they are two males funnily enough I was just about to post a similar subject I'll make a new thread but check it out I have a suspicious looking macmasteri female who is massive and very feisty is starting to...
So in an unusual turn of events since I posted this one of my trifasciata females have spawned which I'm over the moon about! I posted before about eating eggs and had itchy hands so I pulled the cave and placed it in a sterilised 2l jug with the water from breeder. I added 6 small alder comes...
I would worry about the pollution levels in my area. Rainwater would be easy to collect it's bloody miserable round my ways. But I'm very close to gatwick airport and there is industrial estates local also so would worry about pollutants being a problem! Do you have anything similar?
It's quite funny because that's what my fish guy says every time I order apistos He's like don't you want some neolamps they'd be better for your water I'm just like no strictly apistos. He's offered me all sorts of kribs I'm just tearing my hair out trying to get my first spawns from them. I...
I use prime to remove chlorine and always slightly overdose it so hopefully that's one thing ticked off. I noticed it was high too! I am going to get some r.o water from a friend today, what kind of percentage should I mix tap water for my macmasteri. I haven't used it before and am under the...
I'm having a lot of trouble breeding my apistos at the moment. Previously I have had spawns from a few species and even the sp. I keep at this moment have spawned for me but not amounted to anything. My macmasteri pair spawned twice in a month and now haven't for over a month the male is very...
Forget it close this stupid comments section pointless waiting for people who can't be bothered to help. Thanks to those who bother replying suck it to those who haven't x
Thanks for your reply my friend. Ok so this is a good start I think I'll be having a crack at pulling the eggs. Could anyone tell me more about using peroxide instead of methylene? I prefer the idea that it doesn't have to be water changed out of the egg tank and also isn't methylene a known...
hi all I have a pair of macmasteri i was sold as viejita and they have spawned 3 times and eaten the eggs every time after the female guarding for several days and then revert to male chasing female. The normal advice is to leave them to adjust to breeding and they should get it. Problem is I...
Hi I am currently in desperate need of a male trifasciata I have a tank full of females and lost the only male I had due to a parasite and now my supplier can't get them anymore so I have found myself scouring the web for these fish. 50 bucks on liveaquaria is too much when I payed 15 quid for a...
Ok I'm on my way to collect now so perfect timing for replies guys! Thanks for your help everyone! I'll post pics in a few hours when they are settled! Would like to 100% the species for future reference if you guys wouldn't mind helping would appreciate it fully
Mine are super small aswell and the male is so feisty! Now there is 3 females the aggression spreads better but no spawns yet. I've seen the male fanning caves here an there but the females aren't showing to be susceptible as of yet. What size tank did you have 1:7 cacatuiodes? My 200l is my...
