Tom and i have just this last week collected A.agassizii in exceedingly warm water of 34c-38c at the end of the dry season.
A very interesting population, collected from very shallow blackwater along the shoreline of a large lake connected to the Rio Tapiche by one single channel.This...

I kept and successfully bred this species some time ago. I did find them a relatively difficult species to breed however in very soft(10ppm) and acidic water(pH 5-5.5) which is high in tannic/humic acids, temp 78-79c they should do well.
I had good clutches of viable eggs at these parameters.
I...
Some pics of these fish on Glasers news page here: www.aquarium-glaser.de/en/news.php
Parents are typical for M ramirezi and will eat eggs/fry. I removed my first 2 batches of eggs to hatch artificially and am growing on in a small 12" by 6" by 6" plastic food container.
Another batch was...
I have a group of 5 of these fish, 2male/3female, and already have 100s of free swimming fry.
In the UK they are selling at approx £10-£15 each and both sexes are readily available over here.
I think they will keep a relatively high price tag in the short term, Glasers were selling them at...
Toms fish were imported into the UK as wild N sp."Sourourou"(Aureocephalus) quite some time ago, a good 12-18 months ago now...
I have noted that Glasers have more recently had a very similar tank bred fish that they are calling N sp."Sourourou".
Are these different species??? I seem to recall...

Beautiful little fishes these....
I have approx 50 or so and only this weekend have set up a little breeding tank(12"-8"-8") to have a go at breeding them.
Not much breeding info about.

The body shape of Apisto 3 looks almost too slender for it to be A cf.pertensis, dorsal fin is also quite high in comparison.
This fish could be the true A pertensis???
Difficult from the pic though....
Mark
Hi Daniel,
The fish you had from me at the weekend are the typical A sp.Breitbinden (A164), Ive never seen the A.sp.Kurzlappen-Breitbinden imported into the UK.
Good luck with them....
