I have several Apistogramma minima for the moment. They were all by-catch with Dicrossus filamentosus, in Colombia.
Some of them breed right now; nothing happened before the pH was below 5. My water is filtered through peat to imitate blackwater.
In addition to what Mike said, males are...
I just want to inform you that our site, apisto.sites.no, is temporarily (fingers crossed!) inaccessible. :(
We experienced a server crash, and unfortunately this also influenced on the server that holds the backup system.
Martin is working hard to solve the problems, but it may take some time...
About the L333:
theaquariumwiki.com:
Tetras, Rasboras, Gouramis and Killifish species are best tank mates generally residing in the mid to surface space of the aquarium.
Planetcatfish.com:
Compatibility: Very good tankmate for any fish living at the top of the water column.
- Dwarf cichlids...
It is a member of the Apistogramma-pertensis-Lineage, A.-pertensis-Group and A.-pertensis-Complex. It was known under the name Apistogramma sp. "Weissaum/ White-seam" until it was described (Mesa, Carlos & Lasso 2011).
A lovely, very small species.
All mine were found among Dicrossus...

Then my advices would be these:
- Apistogramma belong to the tribe Geophagini, which means that they "eat earth". This is a very frequent and natural behavior, they will normally sift the substrate almost all day long.
I strongly believe that most Apistogramma species won't thrive in the...
Amazingly some do (like the one in my prevous post), and some don't. This is another wild female from the same catch and location:
Yes, to me it seems as he used at least two or three different species to describe A. alacrina!
Yes, fishes from this population are stunning. Here are a few pics of my wild ones:
One of the pairs in my group breeds all the time:
This Río Orteguaza is in the Department of Caquetá, Colombia.
Just a few days ago I received a small shipment with apistos from remote areas, from...
These fishes show a tertiary horizontal stripe (on the belly). Nannostomus digrammus never shows this.
However; there exists a Nannostomus cf. digrammus with a tertiary stripe...
In Nannostomus digrammus and also in the "cf."-form, the anal fin of males are very elongate, reaching the caudal fin...
I've been in Tamshiyacu several times
This area is the home of Apistogramma panduro:
and Apistogramma cf. agassizii "Pastel":
and Apistogramma cf. agassizii "Butterfly":
and amazingly we've also found an Apistogramma cf, norberti there, which lacks the diagnostic black patch in the...
Pyrrhulina australis has a sexual dimorphism and a dichromatism:
- the males are larger and slightly slimmer
- the ventral fins in adult males are larger, almost square, while the females' are rounded
- the fin rays in the anal fin of the males are slightly thickened (similar to that in some...
As another enthusiast just pointed out for me, it could also very well be a form of A. sp. "Putumayo"! I cannot see any males with a double tipped caudal fin
( which A. sp. "Putumayo" has) though... but this might come as the fishes grow older.
The 2015-trip to the Peruvian Amazon brought us to the Río Sumón , a tributary to the Río Yahuasyacu,
which is a tributary to the Río Ampiyacu (Pebas area).
Here lives an interesting, rare Apistogramma cf. ortegai (?) form.
(It might be exported as Apistogramma "Black Mountains" in the...
This is supposed to be our "highway"; usually a big river: Río Sumón. Quite low now
In the lower right corner you see Mike Wise, waiting in the boat (so now you know where he is :)):
We had to pay 8 dollars to support the community of local indigenous people, to get permission to fish in...
In Pyrrhulina, it's normally the male who guards the eggs:
(All photos are of Pyrrhulina zigzag, but I've done and seen the same with Pyrrhulina australis)
He will do so as long as there are something on the leaf. When the eggs start hatching, and become wrigglers/larvae, some of them will...
Great! :):):)
One small water change every day, an "air stone", infusoria several times a day until they'll take newly hatched BBS, and you'll probably end up with 60+! :D
No, I'm sorry Frank.
Unfortunately I did not succeed in getting either the D1, D4, D5 or D6 (the latter is really spectacular!) home, as I hoped, this time.
But I'm working on it..., and hope to succeed later this year.
Thank you for your input.
However: Adult males of Apistogramma iniridae have oval caudal fins, that might be squared off on the posterior end:
They normally don't show any caudal fin extensions...
I think my fishes might be found among forms of A. uaupesi, A. sp. "Blutkehl/Cutthroat", A...
I've got many beautiful apistos from the Inirida area, Colombia.
Here are some of them.
But to identify these Apistogramma uaupesi - like beauties, is (too) difficult....
