Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on a water safe paint to use on breeding traps? I have many of the livebearer type breeding traps that I often use to hold fry for a short time. I would like to paint them black so as to reduce the stress on the fry. What paint is safe for...
Hi,
Oliver Lucanus had some Teleocichla's on his list. I was going to get some but he has sold out. Anyone out there lucky enough to score some? Has anyone had experience with them? I would be interested to here any news/info.
Steve
If you can get them
Jason,
If you ever see them again, I'll buy all that you can find and I'll make it worth your while.
Please keep an eye out for them.

Hi,
I've been looking for these fish for a while now and have not had any luck. I had a group of them about 2 years ago. Actually got them to spawn but then had to move across the country and lost them. Now I have heard several times that it is impossible to get them because of...
Hi,
Has anyone out there bought any "Haplochromis brauschi" from Tony Orso lately? I did in hopes they would be Thoracochroims brauschi. Unfortunately, I don't think they are. The males have three distinct egg spots on the anal fin (from what I read, T. brauschi has one, if any)...
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone know of a good livebearer to act as dither fish? I know most livebearers enjoy hard water, but do any thrive in soft. acidic water? I would be interested in any first hand experiences.
Thanks
Steve

100 Copeland tetras?
I have to ask, where did you get 100 Copeland's tetras (H. copelandi)? I've never seen them imported in that kind of numbers. Are you in the states? I'd love to take a group of 10 off your hands and make it worth your while...

Great Time
Janos/Rick,
It was very enjoyable to meet fellow hobbyists whom share (or exceed) my passion for cichlids (westies and more). My fishroom is always open and I hope to see your's in the future.
BTW-The T. joka have wrigglers. This is the first time they've gotten this...
B. sp. "Eseke"
Well, it is a small fish world. The picture looks identical to the group of F1 and F2 I have swimming around in several of my tanks. Randall is dead on about the color of the females. It is really stunning. She gets a blue metallic shee in her dorsal fin that absolutely...
B. sp. "Eseke"
Hi,
I orginally purchased some B. sp. "Eseke" from Oliver Lucanus in 2004. While it was a bit of challenge to get compatible pairs, once that happened they breed often. I sent a group of F1 to the St. Louis area (to a friend of Mike Hellweg) in 2005. I was told they...
What do you think?
While the pictures certainly won't end up in Smithsonian, I hope they get the general body design/coloration across. This guy rules the 55 G he is in. He has daily battles with a male B. finleyi. Luckily the B. finleyi sticks to the bottom of the tank most of the time.

Sorry to be posting so much, but it seems like a busy time in the fish room. This one is in regards to a chance I had to get some Steatocranus sp. "Red Eye" from Shark Aquarium (www.sharkaquarium.com). But I took too long and missed the boat. Did anyone out there manage to get some? They...
T. demuessi
No, they look nothing like that picture, though the male does have 3 egg spots. The male has a silver base color with red/black outline to the dorsal fins and a very prominent nuchal hump that is red as well.
The male never stops moving making it difficult to get a good shot. I...
Two months ago I bought a group of west african cichlids labeled "Ctenochromis sp." from Toyin Ojo. I have them in a 55 G and they have grown up and I think they are Thoracochromis demeusii. They fit the description in Lamboj's book to a tee, right down to the very concave head and red hump...
Anyone working with Biotoecus? I have a group of 4 (1 male/3 female) but I would like to add some wild blood. I used to get them to spawn (though never got fry) but now I can't get get them to do that. These are f1.
Thanks
Steve Thornton
P. caudiofasciatus
Thanks for the info. My temps run in the high 70's if not low 80's, so I might have to wait till the winter to get a good spawn. I am going to split my group of P. caudiofasciatus up into a couple of tanks in hope they will pair up.
Jeff: As for my location, I am Kansas...
Hi all,
I need some help breeding Tilapia joka. I have a group of 4, of which two have paired up nicely and have spawned now 3 times. The first two times I left the eggs with the parents and nothing. Third time, I took the flower pot with the eggs, kept in in the same tank in a net...
