Have you had success breeding D. maculatus in neutral or near neutral pH? Seems I can only get them to spawn successfully in fairly acidic, soft water (pH 5).

I bought some wild H. fasciatus about 3 years ago and found them to be the nastiest fish ever. Even in a 55G they would beat each other senseless. Finally dumped them on a local fish store and that store went out of business one month later...
But they are great fish if you can get a pair...
