My female has 6-9 free swimmers (counted 9 yesterday morning and 6 yesterday night, there hard to see).
Can I pull the fry and put them in a breeder box on the side of the tank?
How long should I wait to pull them?
They are eating BBS, one iv noticed does not each much, its belly is never full...
Thanks! all nine(that i could count) were alive this morning, and i feed them BBS, also gave them a feed around midday, and will give a little tonight, while saving the last bbs of the batch for tomorrow morning. My second batch will be started soon, so they will be ready to be feed tomorrow...
ya, i added just a small amount and with do a light gravel vac later today with a low suction so no fry get sucked up, ill also just wait for the fry to be taken elsewhere, moms been picking them up and moving them around.
There free swimming this morning, theres about 8 i can see. I gave them pellets ground to a fine powder, just spread out over the area there in. I ordered bbs eggs last night on amazon for next day delivery, should be here today. So tommorrow ill have some ready to feed. Till then im going to do...
Ya i need to get some eggs and setup a hatchery real quick. I just need eggs, i have everything else. Ill have to see if fish stores around me have any for sale or maybe amazon prime now
forgive me i was wrong. Looked back into the pod she breeds in since i noticed she is still deep gold and aggressive, i now see wrigglers they should be free swiming soon since i dont see yoke sacs. I only see like 3. Hopefully i can raise them since i now dont have a male.
I could not see visible damage or anything on his body. Pencil fish are fine acting perfectly normally. That's why it is so weird. There is no other signs of anything else being wrong. I had my second female die 3 weeks ago but she was definitely killed by the bigger female. Her fins were...
maybe, dosnt matter now. Came home and my females color was less yellow and she was swimming all over the tank (normal non spawning behavior for her). No sign of the few wrigglers so im guessing she ate them lol. On a more crapy subject I noticed my male breathing heavy and his colors were faded...
After 4 spawns my female has finally gotten the eggs to hatch. She normally eats them. She laid about 50 eggs (just a random guess). There is only 5 or 6 wrigglers that i can see, she laid them in a tiny casua pod so its hard to see.
Just wanted to share, wont be hatching bbs, will just feed...
Sounds like a form of internal parasite for sure. Mike is right QT is very important.
Another suggestion in the future is buy from a breeder that's well known over buying from a LFS, if possible. If your in the United states there is lots of breeders to buy from. Doing this gives you a much...
I got them from a guy named Shawn Flynn. He breeds several different species/color morphs along with other types of fish. I was recommended him from a facebook page called "apistogramma international". I had a few hiccups with him missing shipping time for overnight because he got stuck in a...
Who did you buy them from? Kind of a weird mess up that id only see happening at a Local fish store or chain store. Most hobbyists that id buy from wouldn't mix 2 species like this. But ya neither of these look remotely like a agazii male. They typically have the round or spade shaped tail fins...
Well when i got home i noticed she was a lot less aggressive. Checked the pipe and there nothing in it. Looked closely and could tell she was just swiming wherever and not staying near one spot. She ate all the eggs up for sure. My smaller female is in constant hiding and being chased by the...
I do have some Catappa leaves in the Quarantine tank with the fish for extra hiding areas and tannins. A quick look this morning looks like she ate the eggs as I only saw 4 eggs left. She has been extra protective for like 3 days now so its possible they hatched over night as the pipe shes in...
Probably my last update on this thread.
Today while checking my QT i noticed one female being rather aggressive. Shined a light in the pvc pipe shes staying around and can see eggs, although there to far back to see if there fertilized. This will be my first batch of fry and iv only had them...
Is there ways to avoid them getting lockjaw?
I guess im asking if this is caused more from lip locking or just something that happens normally when they open there mouth sometimes
Another update. I received my fish yesterday and my new Sand. I Quarantined all the fish in a 25 gallon storage tub. They all appear to be doing great the male is dancing around for the females already.
I attempted to feed them NLF pellets, they took them in and spit them out, im assuming they...
Hey, im up in Dallas. there is likely a LFS that sells them down there, I know we get some up here, maybe not the best looking ones tho. Buying online is great these days if done through a good source. Im currently waiting on a trio of Agazi that I had shipped today, they will be here tomorrow...
For my taste your tank is still really open, Not any sight breaks through the whole front and middle of the tank. I would add more sight breaks that is just my opinion and preference. I prefer using breeder tanks or long tanks for my apistos. For example a 20 long right now is being used for a...
