Ivanacara Bimaculata in the UK

After countless days scouring the internet, forums and Reddit, I have come to the conclusion that bimaculata are non-existent in the UK. I’ve even checked multiple wholesale import lists to no avail
I have found a French seller, and past sellers in Europe that no longer have them, however does anyone know any way I could source some in the UK?

I'm pretty sure they are in the EU if not the UK since I believe the original group (again I believe all but the original group descendant of the original group) came from some folks in ?Germany?. I'm not even sure if they disclosed the catch location but perhaps someone knows more about the origin of this fish. I will say it is a heck of a lot more docile than their cousins.

@Jwitho, do your local fish shop get fish from ruinemans? They have them atm.

Link

The original group of fish was brought to Europe by 3 swedish folks. I know one of them have been to Guyana twice and bringing home, bimaculatas both times.

There might of cause be other parties who brought home some of these beauties.

Yeah I was looking at I.adoketa but the potential for aggression is just too high to risk

The link i posted sends you to bimaculatas. I just tried it again.
But they are put in the apistogramma subcategory, I imagine by mistake.

I know it's been a long time since your original post, but have you managed to get some?

Fantastic, they quickly outgrew the temp holding tank so I moved them into my main tank expecting a bit of conflict but so far, nothing they’re left alone and they leave the other cichlids alone
They are extremely tame but once a pair form the female is not fully tolerant of other females - she doesn't mind extra males.

I was more concerned on them being targeted but luckily nothing
And I do believe I have two males and a female judging by their behaviours so that works out well
Obviously I can always take one into work if there is conflict

Shouldn't be - they pair and as far as i can tell the bond is pretty strong but as long as the tank is large enough for the other males to move out of the way she won't bother them. I had 5 males with a female in a 65 (48 long 16 wide). I even had a pair of a. ladisalo in there and she left them alone - though after a year i moved them to their own 29 where they now hide from me and i've only seen twice the past 18 months - so there is that risk in moving a fish.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
