Thanks. All I wanted was to have a piece of Amazonia in my living room and it seems I made it. Not so lucky with fish, though.
The setup is 48"x16"x16" tank with OptiWhite front.
Lighting: 48" 16W LED tube and 24" 24W fluorescent tube.
Filtration: Eheim 2224.
Substrate: sand + aqua...
Leave just one 2217 and trim it down. I am using Eheim 2224 (which has 40% less throughput than 2217) in a similar tank and it is absolutely sufficient. There is some current that ruby tetras and simulans enjoy while apistos are just fine.
Judging by the comments so far I may be going upstream but to me top of the tank looks too empty. I would add taller and heavier looking roots, some pistia to float on the surface and probably some dither fish such as Carnegiella.
But that would be me.
Anyway, the bottom looks great and made...
As some of you may remember, I got this female, probably A. sp. "Masken":
I started to wonder if this is not A. cinilabra? My LFS where I got this fish has just filled up the stock (from the same importer as previously) and I can see females looking exactly like mine labeled as cinilabra...
