    Hongsloi II had babies, unexpectedly

Thank you for the advice! I was afraid to muck around the tank and upset the female, she hangs out in the most densely planted part that I have a hard time see babies but she's super protective of that spot so I assume she's defending protecting some young. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

    Hongsloi II had babies, unexpectedly

I've given up on getting the fry out of the tank, I've got too many plants, it's a little wild in there :D I can barely net a tetra much less fry... The bright side is that there is so much cover the fry have a lot of hiding places. I actually haven't seen any since that first video as the...

    Hongsloi II had babies, unexpectedly

Thank you! I have a 10 gallon tank I use as a quarantine - it takes 10 minutes to set up - how large do they have to be when I transfer? Currently they are all tail and eyes, not much else. I'll look for the frozen stuff as well. People have mentioned Hikari First bites and golden pearls as...

    Hongsloi II had babies, unexpectedly

Total novice, my first brood, I'm not prepared  Brine shrimp was my first thought but it takes a few days to hatch and feed, I don't know how long these little guys have been here so I need to get something tomorrow - Any recommendations on preprepared foods? Edit: The mom is a total...

    Apistogramma Viejita Red Neck (US)

I just got an email response from Wet Spot confirming if I wanna order another pair, the Red necks are Macs. The female Hongsloi are yellow, they get more brilliant when the male's around, but drab by comparison.

Just wanted to make sure my reading comprehension was right. They are really knowledgable. I assume these are line bread - what do the wild ones look like?

    Apistogramma Viejita Red Neck (US)

It's a community tank so I'm not planning on breeding them but if they do have fry, I'll try to keep them and give them to friends and GWAPA/CCA members. The Hongsloi I have are also doing the mating dance so who knows.

    Apistogramma Viejita Red Neck (US)

Thanks for the details, If I understood you properly, and I'll ask for Macmasteri instead of red necks as that's what I most likely own. I have to say that the service and quality of livestock from Wetspot have been fantastic. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD

    Apistogramma Viejita Red Neck (US)

I don't want any trade secrets, I just want to know what fish to specify when I order since I don't have the ability to see the fish beforehand when ordering from Wet Spot online. As a neophyte hobbyist that's new to Apistos, I'm curious as to the fish sources, like most of you, I would like...

    Apistogramma Viejita Red Neck (US)

Haha! They were sold to me as Viejita red necks - I put the fish on here and was corrected that it's really a macmasteri. Regardless, it's beautiful. Quick question: does Wet Spot have both macmasteri and viejita rednecks? If I get another pair I may specify macmasteri - they just don't list...

    Apistogramma Viejita Red Neck (US)

She's a female because she displayed for the male constantly. I thought they were both males when I first got them because they were my first batch of Apistos - I have been told line bread females display as much color as the males. Shahriar

    Apisto Blindness cause

Just to be more succinct: There has been an obvious change in his swimming and it's obvious he can't see what's in front of him. The swelling in his injured eye is 80% better (Even though I think he's blind). If this infection has attacked the other eye (which for the most part shows no...

    Apisto Blindness cause

No, it's bumping or getting stuck, nose first in a bunch of moss on a branch. He's not flashing - I've seen him do that when the ich broke out. It became obvious when he couldn't locate food that's floating in the water (unless I hold it right in front of his face).

    Apisto Blindness cause

The thing is I think he's blind in both eyes now, he's bumping into things and swimming like he's blind - it's most noticeable when I feed because he can't locate food. I've looked at his other eye (not swollen one) and I can't tell there's anything wrong. I posted this because does...
