    Water Change Frequency with Fry

The 50% change was way to high IMO. I've got around 40 fry at the moment and try to unsettle the conditions as little as possible. 25% water change per WEEK is sufficient and keep the flow rates low as they prefer calm water. Did you pick up some almond leaves? And I assume your conditioning...

Can't get them to eat non-live food.

I mix the food up each day from frozen blood worms, dry blood worms and bbs. The one in the community tank also eats pellets which they normally don't eat, so just goes to show when they are hungry enough, and competing for their food they will eat many types of food. Cheers, Shane

    my first apistogrammas

Oh! I thought they had died? 'No fry in sight'. I've got two lots of apisto fry on the go. One batch still with mum & dad (was a trio but had to separate other mother) - 3 weeks old. And about 6 in a nano tank about 2 months. Cheers, Shane

Have you been looking for another female yet? Made a bbs hatchery? Cheers, Shane

Oh noo! I'm sorry to hear that Jason. How did she die? Will you buy another female? Cheers, Shane

    my first apistogrammas

Yup! My tips. Drill a hole in the drink lid slightly smaller than the tubing. Cut the end of the tubing at an angle. Pull the tubing through the lid with pliers, cut off excess tubing to be close to flush to the inside lid. Cut a small hole in the base. Feed tubing through hole in base...

You can try it, but in my opinion no. Do you have a lump of moss in the tank that may be harvesting some micro organisms they can eat? Cheers, Shane

My 64 Litre South American Biotope

IMO the fry will be too small to remove from the tank. By the time the fry are wriggles the tetra/corys would have gobbled them up!

My 64 Litre South American Biotope

Looks good! If they breed you'll need to remove the tetra though.

I like the natural look, but only have the hollow log with one end blocked. I must try the old coconut DIY one day. How do you ensure it stays in place at the bottom of the tank?

My new pair of Apistogramma Cacatuoides Orange Flash juveniles

Is your water soft? I add an Indian almond leaf from time to time. Have found in particular the male sometimes goes off bloodworms as he spits them out, and then the next day he'll gobble them up!

He may colour up a little more when he becomes more settled. I have a trio of triple reds.

He's a nice colour, & she looks ready to breed. Do you have a few caves in the tank?

Apisto fry have broken the containment lines - what now?

Haha! Very strange indeed. I've taken the hiding mother out and placed her in with my guppys & shrimp. Will observe them over the weekend to ensure there are no guppys or shrimp attacked... Otherwise I might switch the bubs with the mother.
