Any tie breaker votes?
In the absence of a definitive diagnosis, which I understand is difficult, are there any broad spectrum drug cocktail treatments that might be used to fight off "whatever it is?"
Hi all,
Was pleased yesterday to find one of my blue ram pairs spawning again. This evening, I found the male guarding the eggs, and trailing this long stringy feces.

Any advice would be appreciated. He seems to be gasping a bit too, so I'd love...
So, I re-cut the plastic backing so that there is no vertical tension, only horizontal. I also rounded the bottom corners to accommodate the silicone bead. It seems better, and no one is getting through, yet. I'd still take any advice on using this stuff or other tank dividers. Thanks.
In searching the old posts, I read a suggestion by Mike Wise to use plastic needle point backing as a cheap and easy tank divider. I thought it sounded good, so I bought some, but hadn't tried using it until today. I cut the piece slightly larger than the interior dimensions of the tank, so it...
Thanks for the insight, Mike.
As I don't think I've ever had wild fish, I'm a little surprised that the influence is still that strong. But it certainly makes sense.
One other observation that I'd be curious to know if others have experienced. . .
Everything I've read says that rams like to spawn on flat rocks or sometimes plant leaves, suction cups or glass. Without fail, though, the rams I've kept ALWAYS spawn on a piece of driftwood in small...
Charles,
Yes, they WERE good parents. Unfortunately, I don't have that line any more. I took a year or so break from rams, and just recently got some new young adults. So far they have spawned twice, but have never gotten any fry to the free swimming stage.
With the old line, I found...
I'm confused, do cacatuoides normally show a distinct break before the caudal spot? It seems to me that the females I have now definitely do show a distinct caudal spot. In looking back over pictures of females that I've had in the past, though, they don't necessarily show that break. There...
Here's a link to some pictures of my fish. Nothing like the fish or photography that shows up here sometimes, but I enjoyed it.
Comments, compliments, criticisms, and advice are all welcome. Thanks for looking.

I recently lost my last female A. trifasciata  http://www.forum.apistogramma.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
I have three extra adult males. Right now I have one in a 30 gal. community (36" x 12" footprint) and the other two are each in separate 10 gal. tanks. Unfortunately, I need those...
Thanks everyone.
I still wonder if I would need to bleed pressure. The Jehmco site mentions that these pumps have a power curve that matches the output curve, and that they use less power when running fewer than the maximum outputs. Does that mean that this pump (rated at 40+ outlets...
To any one who has one of these linear piston air pumps,
I am currently running 12 tanks in a small fishroom with a mismatched assortment of power filters and sponge filters operated by a small handful of diaphragm air pumps. They are noisy, all of the different power filter configurations...
