To date, my rams fries are about 4/5 weeks old. The pair did an excellent job raising the fries. They have the whole tank to themselves BTW.
However this morning, the male began chasing the female away. Won't let her near the fries. Does it mean that the female is ready to spawn again, and a...
Hmm.. I had the same experience with my pair. However I noticed that with every spawn, they seem to learn to be better parents.
My pair spawned again 2 weeks ago and all the fries seems to be doing well. This is their 5th spawn. I have lost all the fries from previous spawn, to other tankmates...
Yeah, your tanks' OK. 2 coconut caves will do. I also "drop" in quite a few driftwoods and plants tied to driftwoods (java fern, nana and java moss). I like moss because it will also give some protection to the fries.
I do recommend getting your Apisto a tank of their own if you are thinking of breeding. It will REALLY save you and the fries A LOT of trouble.
I am facing this problem right now with my Ram fries. They are in a tank with 7 Black neon tetras and a couple of wild bettas. Even though the Ram...

They have been there for 2 week now. I noticed that at first the male was quite aggressive towards the female. Luckily There is enough hiding place to...
I would love to post the pics here but I don't see any option of doing so other than linking it to another post....mmm

Ok, I normally wouldn't even take notice of the Rams (Microgeophagus Ramirezi) when I go to the LFS. I don't read about them and don't even look at them. That is because a lot of them are just not good quality. Worse still..they have the "balloon" strain.. I am no fan of selective...
I recently acquired a beautiful pair of Aggassizzii "double red". They are now in a tank (footprint 30in x 15in) together with:
3x Nothobrachius Beira (Killiefish),
4x Betta Rutilans,
6x Parosphromenus Deisneri and
3x Kuhli Loaches
I have lots of Plants in there, mainly Java Ferns...
