I read your question. In the Netherlands are some Tilapia species to get now.
Tilapia louka maybe a few. I don,t have these fish no more. Tilapia deckerti,Tilapia brevimanus, Tilapia sparrmanii, tilapia discolor,Tilapia snyderae,Tilapia sp Mamfe are still in the Netherlands.

I kept mine in normal tapwater.
It has the folow parameters
Ph 7,7
Dh 9,9
My fish swim together with other cichlids, like Hemichromis and Tilapia.
No acid supplement i have used.
Breeding was no problem.

I keep these fish for about 2 years. The male is 4-5 inches and the female is
4 "".
A few times i have some eggs. Both parents protects the eggs.
Whenn the fry becane freeswimming the female were hunted away by the male.
I don,t know of this behavior belong to these fishes...
Tilapia sp Kisangani is not yet identified.
Kisangani is a city into Dem. Rep Congo wich lays nearby the congoriver.
My fish are F1 juveniles. The wildcaugth fishes are living in Germany.

Most Tilapia gets bars on the body and change colouring when they are spawning.
