    My 20long Moliwe tank

I had a WC pair of Makoures in a 29 gallon tank (same footprint)with a female Pelv. Pulcher and they did a great job raising the fry. Quite a sight to see! Anyway, practice makes perfect so if you're worried about keeping some just take a portion and let them keep some to practice with. Or...

Tilapia sp. Jewel from Lake Ejagham

Janos, if the price is reasonable I would be interested in some fry.

    Chromidotilapia guntheri spawning

They spawn about every 3 weeks or so after releasing. I seem to be slow removing the fry and when they get a couple weeks old they eat whatever is left with them and spawn again. The male released a few a little while ago; I'll have to be better about pulling the fry, or at least most of them.

    Chromidotilapia guntheri spawning

Mine spawn like clockwork, but I've never witnessed it. Now maybe I'll watch them a little more often when the female is gravid. Thanks for posting this!

    Pelvicachromis Taeniatus Fighting

Glad to hear they had an attitude change! The key is to make it last. In my experience the male would blame the female for the demise of the fry, beat up on her, make up, and they would spawn every once in a while only to repeat the cycle. After a few months of this the female finally stopped...

    Pelvicachromis Taeniatus Fighting

I had this problem with my pair from Makoure. Large water change, move decor around, and get a female Pelv. Pulcher or similar species. The pair will feel the need to make their species thrive over the opposing species. Maybe leave the lights off for a couple of days as well. And of course...

    Stomatepia Pindu

Lost the eggs. Must've somehow gotten sucked out of the tumbler by tankmates somehow. Back to the drawing board. Aron

    Stomatepia Pindu

Thanks guys! I actually got to watch them spawn. A little different than most mouthbrooders I've seen. The other times I've witnessed mouthbrooders spawn (Lake Malawi) the female dropped the eggs, promptly picked them up, and nipped at the male's anal fin (egg spots) to fertilize the...

    Stomatepia Pindu

Thanks for the reply, found some good info. They actually spawned yesterday for me. I keep hearing about how they're not good at holding, so I stripped the female after a few hours and put about 30 eggs in a tumbler. Keeping my fingers crossed; these are Red-List endangered species. Aron

    Stomatepia Pindu

Picked up a reverse trio of these fish a few days ago. Not a whole lot of info on these fish from what I see, and some of it contradicts each other. Anyone have any experience keeping them or know of any links with good info? Currently in a 55 with some gentle Malawi mbuna and trio of...

    P Taeniatus issue

I had the same problem with my WC P. Taeniatus Makoure. Dropped in a female pulcher and things got better almost instantly. It will bring them closer together. Now they're inseperable. I understand if you just plain don't want to keep a pulcher, but it's better than having to constantly...
