Yes, I stumbled on this strain of Apistogramma bitaeniata around 2000 while collecting north of Pevas, Peru. The originals had an obvious red line parallel to the primary lateral line, high on the back. I don't think the area is collected anymore, but I might try again this summer.
I sent your pic down to a friend and shipper in Iquitos, Peru and he calls it "Tetra Red line". He does not think it has been described yet. and he did confirm it comes from the Rio Tigre area.
Hey Guys, any idea what this is? It was shot in southern Venezuela in a small stream near the intersection of the Orinoco River and Rio Atabapo. Note the full lyretail. It is the largest apisto I have ever seen. I am editing together a video of the footage I have of it.
