    44 Gallon Stocking

Hmmm, could be. Listed ingredients are Indian Almond Extract and Acacia catechu Extract. They are advertising its antimicrobial properties, so you never know. The seller will have just purchased the raw product from some wholesaler anyway. Wish there was a reputable source for a similar product.

This is what my hand looked like after handling the packaging but before opening the ziploc bag.

    44 Gallon Stocking

I tried a small amount of the almond leaf powder I linked to in one of my previous posts (still pending approval). It's very concentrated, although if you wet a small amount, some of it turns bright blue. Not sure what that is. Could be ink from the label as the powder seems to act as somewhat...

Sent some links describing the pesticides. Seems that reply and one of my previous is still awaiting moderator approval due to the links.

    44 Gallon Stocking

Small city. No herbicides. I use some organic pesticides in my vegetable garden - Bt, spinosad. Not near the trees though. Lots of squirrels and birds in the trees, would likely want to boil anything collected as they poop a lot.

    44 Gallon Stocking

As mentioned in my thread on the topic, the A165 didn't make it. I ordered a tank-raised Panduro to replace him, and the Panduro arrived today. Water temperature on arrival was 68F/20C. He's in the 22 gallon now. I've done a few 50% water changes on that tank in the last week, and I added lots...

Update: he didn't make it. Not surprising. Thanks for the help regardless.

Apistogramma piaroa A165 not doing well

I have a 6 gallon that's been running with a sponge filter and just plants for a few months. I could drain that, refill it with just RO.

I'm curious about this too. My guess would be that dissolved solids have little to no effect on pathogen density. Pathogens thrive when there is a high density of fish. Blackwater environments have low levels of nutrients, thus low fish density. Thus, they would have lower pathogen density just...

Apistogramma piaroa A165 not doing well

Are there any medications I should try, or would it be best to just keep doing daily water changes? Alternatively, I could move him to a hospital tank with some completely fresh water.

I have plenty of almond leaves on hand. He's still hanging in there so I'm going to try the suggested water change with RO only to bring the TDS down. Then I'll plop some almond leaves in there.

Apistogramma piaroa A165 not doing well

A number of sources indicated aquatic plants like dGH in the 5-7 range. I use the same water in my other tank which has some WC parotocinclus and an apistogramma abacaxis. Those fish seem to do well. I initially was keeping it around 3, but my plants didn't look completely healthy, so I raised...
