What plants do you plan to grow in this tank? If you want to grow anything you throw in the tank go with the 36w kit. I have the 2x13w kit on a 10g, aquaclear mini filter, flourite substrate, and DIY c02 injected into the filter intake tube. In this tank i can grow a decent amount of plants but...
Sounds like its possible but in not sure.
Check out this link for some really good videos on bolivian rams breeding and fry care, very neat videos for any here to check out.

Very unique tank, i like the background. The tank looks natural which is a great thing. What kind of leaves are those in their? The tank is roughly 10g or 12g im guessing, so what kind of lighting do you have on the tank and are you dosing any nutrients of C02?

Truthfully the biggest size tank you can get would be best. If your trying to grow out a large amount of fry the bigger the tank the better, and the bigger the tank the less likely you would have any spikes in the water conditions.
Sounds like you got a nice setup. Do you have any pictures by...
Hey, welcome its nice to see new members newbie or not. You seem quiet knowledgable so im sure your advice will be appreciated by everyone. Also your tanks sound quiet interesting, do you have any images off hand to share? Im specially interested in your 10g SA biotope.
I myself have almost...
The lighting issue has to do with the water mass more or less. With the increased water mass and depth in which the light needs to penetrate to reach the plant you will need increased lighting output. This holds true when you are actually planting in your substrate, with them floating they are...
ronv,
no your not missing much, with this setup you will definately be able to grow something its just that with the light level you may not be able to grow high light plants. You may be able to keep them if you leave them floating closer to the light. Even so im not sure if they will thrive...
