How about frozen food such as red and black mosquito larve? maybe mix it with some live food, to get them accustommed to frozen food, then mix frozen food with flake to get them used to that.
Hi, thanks for the tips. In the end I didn't have to do anything, after some days the problem solved itself. I also think it was some sort of dislocation, but i figured I'd do nothing for some days, because he was behaving normal and didn't look uncomfortable.
My male fish seems to have a problem with his mouth. These fish ave the ability to open their mouth extra far, by unfolding it somehow. Now the upperlip of the male is stuck in that position. It doesn't seems to upset him very much, but it looks awfully uncomfortable. anything i can do?
i doubt it, because i have had cacs for quite some time and there are numerous details by which you can tell the sex. however, i may be wrong, i have never seen such a "sex change", so i might be overlooking things.

Another question, is it normal that they differ in size a lot? the biggest of the fry are roughly 3 times the size of the smallest. As far as I can tell, they are all eating normally. The bigger ones are a bit more aggressive in chasing away...
not these, they lack the equipment to do that. these shrimps have no scissors, so it's impossible for them to catch a young fish.
I still find it amazing how fast these little fish grow.

I am setting up an apisto breeding tank as well. i was wondering if a substrate is necessary. I've noticed that they like to dig a hole in there for their fry. But I'd prefer to have a tank without substrate, since it's easier to maintain.
it's not exactly a breeding tank. it's just a tank that didn't have any fish in it yet. so when i saw i had a bunch of wrigglers, i transfered them to this empty tank. they would've been eaten for sure in the community tank.
