    Hi there, yes he was the male part of a wild caught pair. There are various wild caught variants but all are rare due to the dangerous nature of the region they are sourced from. You will most likely only get them from a specialist importer.

    Thanks Mike. I need to keep the filter foam cleaner though right ? Happy to leave a bit of mulm in there but was horrified at how dirty it all seemed, as I am usually meticulous with my other tanks.

    Hi all, I have set up a 60L tank for my pair of WC Pelvicachromis Taeniatus (Dehane) to breed in. It has a fair amount of redmoor and manzanita wood in there atop a 1" layer of playsand, along with 2 coconut shells. Heated internally to 24degrees and filtered by an Eheim Pickup internal filter...

    Thanks guys. I am sure they have spawned in that case because the behaviours above have all happened but my water is hard as rock. Looks like Santa is going to get a request for an RO unit this Christmas.

    I have a pair of wild caught Pelvicachromis Taeniatus (Nyete) who are homed in their own 60L tank with redmoor and manzanita wood, sand substrate, and a couple of coconut shells. They have done the diggin, done the "jiggin", but no babies :( Any ideas whats wrong ?
