Will take on board all what has been said and fingers crossed I can curtain the growth of the algae.
Thanks again

Thanks,
Yes the rusty colour marks can be rubbed off a bit. Is there any specific treatment I can add to the water to be able to lower the mineral content of the water?
Also with regards to the bubble maker attachment on the filter, keep or remove? Reading up on the internet has me puzzled...
Hi all,
Can anybody tell me what might be causing rust colour marks to start forming on my live plants. They have been growing well for weeks but only noticed these marks forming over the last few days. Am new to this and very much inexperienced so any advice would be fantastic :)
Also, I have...
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if there is a general rule of thumb for pruning the plants in my aquarium.
The background plants in my tank are really taking off and have reached the surface. My plan was to prune them and re-plant the off cuts in order to make it a lot more densely planted. However I...
Thanks guys,
Will try the paper towel trick :)
I have an eheim internal filter which cycles at double the volume of my aquarium. Would it be worth while adding the attachment which blows the air bubbles into the tank?
I have 12 various tetras in my tank at present to help cycle the tank and...
Hi Folks,
Looking for a little advice if possible as I am fairly new to this :)
This evening looking in my tank I had noticed an oily looking film on the surface of the water.
The tank is well planted and recently did 10% water change on Sunday. The only additives I use is a capful of...
Thanks very much for your input Mike.
Will look into some of these options. :)
I want to have a peaceful yet vibrant community tank. I have kept many fish in the past but after years it's like starting all over again, wetting the fingers again so to speak.

I have a 120l heavily planted tank and looking to keep some form of dwarf cichlids, preferably Apistogramma.
1- in this size of tank how many pairs of Apistogramma can be housed without problems?
2- Would a form of Ram be compatible with Apistogramma...
Yeah, just a nice placid, colourful community
tank is what I was looking for, not really fussed
about the fish breeding just as long as they are happy
and healthy. So would the next stage be getting rid of
my apistos and just keep the kribs or a pair of my
apistos aswell? Only probs is...
Thanks for the advice mike, when I was ready
to choose fish for the tank I solely went on the advice
the shop owner gave me as obviously far more experienced than
me. I will do a ph test and by the sound of things
perhaps give back some of the fish to the shop. The Kribs are vibrant
in...

Have kept tropical fish before and have been succeessfull.
However loved the idea of setting up a tank with these beautifull fish.
The tank has been set up for about 3 months and is planted quite heavily and contains bogwood...
