Looks nice do you keep them all for yourself or do you sell these? There is a chance that I can’t get another tank. My parents don’t want it maybe I can talk them over. They say the max length is 40 to 50 cm. I don’t know why but I will try to talk them over. But if I can’t talk them over I have to respect that. That would mean that I only have a 55 g tank it’s 100 x 40 x 50 cm. With the stocking mentions before. So I will probably will not be able to breed and it would be a bit of a waste for my big tank to only use it for breeding.

Thanks. Unfortunately I had to quit raising fish due to health issues and since I let the colony go the friend wasn't able to keep them going. I tried over 30 years to get my hands on 10 in about 2007 and gave them away in 2012. I haven't seen them for sale either in the 15 years since I had mine.
I would sometimes get up to a couple hundred of all ages in a 20 Long.
I bet I received a few hundreds of Corydoras pygmeus in my search for real C. hastatus.

Maybe just to throw it in:
The small Corydoras species, Corydoras habrosus, C. hastatus and C.pygmaeus are all very common in the aquarium trade in the EU nowerdays. As are Nannostomus marginatus.
Corydoras ambiacus would be indeed the only fish you have right now worth multilying.

I can ask and maybe connect you to a Corydoras specialist based in Holland (province), if you like. Maybe you can exchange for a species that is more common (no immediate need for breeding to keep the captive population going) but still more exclusive than the species you get at every corner.

You are very right about this. As I mentioned in another thread, stick to the main display, possible breeding projects will come and go anyways. Until then, maybe some fry of some of your species might make it. Who knows.

Well if you can I would maybe like to know if he knows anything about this species and if he can confirm the ID the C.Agassizii is one that is very much like the ambiacus.

Corydoras ambiacus would be indeed the only fish you have right now worth multilying.

Well maybe the WC apistogramma cf. Agassizii (netz) are worth multiplying. Cause you never see these.

He will definitely be able to ID them, but still depends on whether he's willing to at the moment, we have direct but irregular contact. I sent a request out nonetheless. Would you be able to provide better pictures of the fish just in case?

If I recall correctly even the people here on the forum I trust blindly when it comes to Apistogramma-IDs neither agreed on the ID nor were they too sure about it. As long as this is disputed I would hold back with that. Or has there been any news I missed?

I will make some good pictures does he maybe has some info about the species. Do you maybe have the name of the man I may know him.

This is a population belonging to A. cf. agassizii (Netz).

This is a direct quote from Mike wise in my threat about this species. And I have talked to Utaka my lfs and they have shown the exporter to me. And it came in with fish from the Rio negro.

I will try to talk my parents over about a bigger tank. But if they don’t agree I will have to respect that. Cause I don’t want to sacrifice my big tank for breeding. And I don’t thing it will be possible to breed in 40 to 50 cm aquarium.

I am going to get rid of the colomesus you were right about that they are snapping at the fins of the male apistogramma.

As he's not here on the forum and I don't give the information of people I know in person without asking, I can't tell you more until I have an answer.

Allright, wasn't up to date then.

I am going to get rid of the colomesus you were right about that they are snapping at the fins of the male apistogramma.
Hope the damage isn't that bad.

I understand you can contact me if you knows something. I will sent some more pictures here soon.

It is not to bad it is the dorsal fin that is bitten in. The male only came out of his cave for eating for 2 days.

I talked to him this morning, he said if you got them from Utaka (likely imported by Ruinemans he said), you can trust the ID. He'll still be willing to ID from pictures if you like, though he doesn't think it's necessary.
He also confirmed, either way (Corydoras agassizii or Corydoras ambiacus) it would be worth breeding them.

I bought them at VKC (van Keulen chicliden) also a well known store. I am pretty lucky with the fish stores nearby. They probably also imported them from ruinemans not sure nonetheless I will sent some pictures.

I have done my best to photograph them the they are a bit skittish and the I think female was in all the decaying leaf litter. I am pretty sure that I have two males and one female. The female is much bigger than the males. But maybe you could ask him. I don’t know how big they were when I got them which was around 8 moths ago. So I expect them to be fully grown they are pretty big.

Also on these species mostly the ambiacus there is almost nothing to find about. Maybe he has some info. Regarding breeding, worth etc.

Maybe a bit much to ask but I really appreciate your and his help. It really helps!

Nice specimens. I'll relay the pictures and the questions to him.

Nice fish definitely.
I assume this article is known to you.
Look up the water conditions here:

and you will most likely be able to deduct the necessary conditions for breeding from the material.

If they are skittish, they lack proper cover. A piece of driftwood that offers space for the whole group under it like under a bridge would be the least necessary.

It is indeed.

They have a lot of cover but not something like I bridge in the old scape I did have that. I will take a look what i can do. There a not to skittish I think it is also that they are with just three.

Again thanks for the help. This way we all learn about fishkeeping.

I looked it up on the site you sent me. Nice site did not know about it. I thing my water is fins a ph of 6,5, gh 4 i did it in a calculator I don’t know if it works but it would be a pretty good indication and it said tds of 71 ppm so multiple by 1,56 it is a eC of 110 so it will be okay for this species.

Oh. That indeed is a problem. I'm usually on the side of keeping Corydoras by "the dozen", well, actually at least 10.

You're welcome. It's really handy to look things up. Wish there was a map for Asia and Africa respectively.

Usually the factor is more or less 2. But remember, TDS/EC includes everything dissolved in the water. I expect the GH in these waters to be close to zero. But we had that before.

I understand but I can not really get it down a lot without using RO water.

When you have any answers you can contact me.
