Just wanted to know if there are any WC appistogramma species that are more tolerant of slightly hard water and neutral PH. For example are WC cacatuoides as easy to breed in tap water as some of the aquarium strain?
Most whitewater species breed in such conditions. A. cacatuoides should work as would A. borellii and A. trifasciata from the lower Rio Paraguay/Parana/Uruguai and A. cf. alacrina (Rotpunkt) and A. macmasteri from Colombia. Species from the mouth of the Amazon, although rarely imported, will work, too.
