My pandurini bred and the female ripped the the males face up when he tried to visit the kids. I took him out and he's by himself. Is there anything I can put in the tank besides clean water to help him recover.
IMO you can use things like melafix or meth blue to stop fungal growth but I am not the biggest fan of those so now I use alder cones because they are supposed to have natural anti bacterial or anti fungal qualities.
I had a Dwarf Rainbow that had 1/2 its face covered by fungus which eventually had its whole lower jaw fall off. Clean acidic water with alder cones stopped any further problems. Its still alive now but has no mouth it can close.
Others will, no doubt, have other ideas that have worked for them.
