Hi all!

last weekend i got 10 n. Unifasciatus (-wildcaught from brazil). The guy in the store netted them while i was out in their garden to look at pond plants.
After a few days i noticed two of them looked rather different than the rest and different than what i expected (i have never kept this species).

Long story short… -do any of you fancy a guess to what they are?
To me it looks like n. Digrammus. But i’m not sure.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the picture quality.

Hey all!

Do any of you have any insights on how to breed these little critters?
Yesterday evening, when i was sitting infront of the tank i saw what i believe was courtship and egglaying. I got so exited that i might have scared them in the act… -stupid me..
But it sure got me thinking.

I know TomC, have bred them, but not sure if it was intented.

Ps. I have read the seriously fish article. TomC’s report and what else i could find.

I also had n. Eques at one point and did see egglaying from them.

What i saw yesterday resembled somewhat more of copella species, on the topside of a leaf.

I think digrammus might be correct, they come in sometimes as bycatch from marginatus.
How many perpendicular bars do they show at night?
As for unifasciatus, Hans Harreveld has bred those, he has an instagram and youtube account. They are similar to n eques in breeding.

Cheers

Hey Anna!

I swapped the two digrammus.
But good to know you agree with my id-ing.

I found Hans’ YouTube videos. Good stuff.
Helps me, to know what to look for.
