I’m looking for Apisto breeders in the uk. As they are really hard to get hold of thx in advance

Have you got a Maidenhead Aquatics near you? They seem to always have apistos surprisingly even though they're not so popular anymore.

They can be a bit of a nightmare for getting the wrong females and they might try to get you to buy pairs claiming these fish do better in pairs (I assume this is how they get them) but all you have to do is point to their discription on the price label stating "keep one male with several females" and moan how it's normally females that get left lonely anyway because people just buy a pretty male.

Try the "Apistogramma & Dwarf Cichlid" group on the Band App. The sellers are mostly in the States, but there are at least a couple in the UK. They may, in turn, know of others.

There is a Facebook Group that is quite active. <"UK Apistogramma Keepers/Breeders">. Facebook doesn't allow direct selling but they will be able to sort you out.

Hello Trevor.
I'm not sure where in UK you are but I travelled to Mill Race aquatics in Colchester and they had quite a few in there.
As already pointed out, Maidenhead aquatics also stock them.

I dont know if i should say this but ebay has the most extensive collection ive seen. there was a nice place in edinburgh where im from, but i think it got covidised. Saying ebay may get me in trouble.

Saying Ebay doesn't get you in trouble.
But I might add: The OP hasn't posted anything besides that one post and hasn't been online since December 2021. I doubt posting in this thread will have any effect whatsoever.

ha i didn't notice, well for anyone else ebay has great variety in uk, quality im not sure.

I don't find the variety that good, except if a specialist offers their animals. Looking on Ebay here in Germany you get 95% domestic strains, except from 2 people in the whole federal state offering the hot stuff for outrageous prices. I can understand certain prices for rare species, but 30€ for an unsexed/yet unsexable 2cm juvenile, when you can get wild caught adults of the same species in the regular trade for 20,- is an insult.
Quality can vary a lot, too.

here in the uk ebay its kind of similar, there are some rarer fish but for outrageous prices. The difference is that most local shops in scotland are so impoverished. I only ever found cacs and rams. so ebay looks good.

I did check eBay but several ok there very unreliable. Most are pre order. One is from Glasgow and well overpriced. I tried couple out paid up front and both took roughly 3 weeks to get back to me saying they were not available. It’s quite bad that eBay allow this to go on
I eventually sourced and breeding several different kinds. For future reference if anyone needs any help I can always point you in the right direction if I do not have myself. Thx for your thoughts tho.

I get my Apistos from an importer who happens to be a member of my aquatic club. I can pass his info on if interested. he has a large selection of various sizes, pairs, etc. He is in Richmond but does deliver etc.

I can give you the contact of a fish importer who is a member of our Fish club in Hounslow. Ian is based in Richmond Upon Thames and will ship to wherever! He has 3 suppliers that can get almost anything you want at good rates as well.

Managed to get myself some lovely Hongsloi to keep my females happy. Admittedly they are small but that's what i ordered and not disappointed

I have a guy who imports them direct an he has 3 suppliers. Can get a wide variety of Apistogramma etc. He uses Band I can introduce you if you wish. Rey reasonable prices too.
