Leaves and other humic supplying additions

Hi all,
This has come from an inquiry on <"another forum"> by an Australian member about whether there are any Australian native (or frequently planted ornamental) trees <"that you can use"> as "structural leaf litter," or a source of tannins? I know that Indian Almond (Terminalia catappa) grows in Queensland, but I was wondered about the more southern areas around Melbourne.

I would be interested in this too, my tap water is kinda alkaline, so any botanicals I could use would be helpful.

Not only do there appear to be Ulmus and Quercus in Melbourne, but the map will tell you exactly where the trees are!

Sorry to tell you, but no. They have minimal (in my experiece rather just none at all) influence above a KH of 2°.
