Is this a male A. sp. "Ipiranga"?

Was looking for males for my lone female sp. Ipiranga, and was offered this fellow for sale. I do believe that this fish is an Ipiranga (at the very least a barlowi-type, anyhow), but I'm not 100% convinced on the sex. Am I irrational in believing this fish to be a particularly large female?
Would love to be wrong, but in the event that I'm not, I don't particularly want a bunch of females, lol.

Then I'm quite sure that it's a female.
That's what I was afraid of :(
The ventral fins, barring, caudal, and general lack of colour seemed too female-like for a "male" kept solo.
Thanks for the confirmation!
I might as well get this particular individual; Ipiranga are hard to find anyways, and I'll at least be able to see the group dynamic of females.

I have a group of 6 with what appears to be 2 males and 4 females - one day they might breed - probably not today - one of the female is nesting but i'm not sure if she has eggs. However if they do breed and if the frys make it and if you live in usa than in the spring when it is warm i could probably send you a few no charge. However that is a lot of ifs.

Thanks! I'd be willing to send you a good number of Nannostomus in exchange, if I can get them to breed in time and the fry make it.

@anewbie Can I be added to your "if" list? :)

yea i guess i can do two freebies but don't get your hopes up - i have no clue what these guys are doing. I remember it took my ortegai a *long time* to actually produce frys but once they did all the females started doing it at the same time so maybe the male was just slow to develop. Then again i need birth control for my wolli - she just won't stop.

Sounds good. Btw, I'm looking for a few Wollis to breed, do you have any for sale?
