I've seen quite a few folks having difficulty uploading photos to the site, and would like to offer you an easy work-around. Furthermore, this method is also a good way to backup your photos incase you lose them on your computer...and it's free.

To upload photos to the site, you can use an outside file hosting site such as www.photobucket.com or www.imageshack.com; or another source to your liking.

So, basically when you want to show a picture on the website, you will have to first upload the picture from your computer to the file hosting site. Then copy and paste the image link into your post:

It should look something like this (without the space behind the [ :
[ IMG]http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/slimbolen99/Aquariums/photobucket01.jpg[ /IMG]

And the image will show up here in the site.
photobucket01.jpg

If you simply provide the URL (http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/slimbolen99/Aquariums/photobucket01.jpg), only the link will show up:

http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu305/slimbolen99/Aquariums/photobucket01.jpg

Keep in mind, that inside photobucket, if you move the file to another folder inside photobucket, the link that you copy and pasted will not work anymore.

If you have any questions, please ask. It's easy once you get the hang of it, but can be kinda of tricky for folks not familiar with that process.

Thanks for posting this! It's nice to have a step-by-step guide to help others. Once we are on the new server I hope to make it so that everyone can upload their photos directly to Apistogramma.com - that way you don't have to fool around with copying/pasting codes from other sites. And the photos won't disappear over time either.
