help with hongsloi

I just aquired a small pair (about 1.5 inches) of apisto hongsloi.

I was hoping I could get some info on the species, I have a 10 gallon with a find sand bottom and an aquaclear 150 on it. im looking for general husbandry info aswell as breeding information.

Hongsloi is easy to keep and breed, provided that you provide soft and acidic water. A pair of matured Hongsloi will readily to spawn when pH is around 5-6, and they easily accept any kinds of food.

I was able to spawn hongsloi in water with a ph of 7.2, gh of 120ppm, and kh of 60ppm (my tap water). Unless you've got liquid rock coming out of the tap, I'd keep them in tap water untill they are fully grown out (easier to do water changes). Once they look like they are of breeding age, you can start using RO and peat to lower hardness and ph if you want.

I've heard hongsloi are reletively slow to mature (I know my fry grew sooooo slowly), so you might have a bit of a wait. Frequent WCs and a variety of food are the rule to stimulate growth.
