Good 10 gallon apistos/other SA dwarves

Hi all! My younger sister is very fond of apistos and wanted to see if we could get a pair for her 10 gallon she is setting up. Are there any apistos or other south American dwarves that would be particularly well suited for this? I would be taking care of the tank and have a good deal of aquarium experience, but my sister would rather not have a full out blackwater tank (we are willing to mix quite a bit of distilled water into our tap to soften it, though...up to 75% distilled). Thanks :)

The Borellii do good in a 10 gl., but they might breed on you so be ready for fry.
I'm sure there are others, I'm sure the more experienced will chime in.

A. borelli are a good option as they are small and relatively docile! I have A. sp. Totaya in a ten gallon and they are wonderful - the pair get along pretty well when not breeding and when breeding they get along excellently. I wouldn't do A. cacatuoides as they get larger but I know many people do breed them in 10's.

I have a pair of Orange Flash with fry in a 10g, in another 10g I witnessed a pretty of Triple Reds spawning and in another 10g I have another of of Triple Reds with the female guarding eggs. May not be the preferred way but it's working for me.
