I had some frys in my tank and i had assumed this was a young krib; but to be honest it looks nothing like a krib to myself. My cockatoo did breed and i had presumed all the frys were ripped but maybe this one made it ? It could also be something else that just sort of snuck in on a plant or something.

Yea. I confused myself. The marking threw me off. It is already more than 2 months old (I think 3 but time flies). Thanks.

There are a dozen of species in the genus Pelvicachromis. The markings are still the juvenile camouflage and obviously stress stripes from the situation the pictures were taken in.

Mostly right but not quite. He had those markings before i netted him. I netted him to get a better picture to post. However, it did turn out to be camouflage as he put on normal krib markings as soon as i dropped him into a different tank.

I had kribs in my 40 but after they spawned a second time I evicted them. Over a period of a couple of months i caught frys and most of them went to the lfs but a few went into the 120 because i was too lazy to drive the lfs with one or two fishes (40 minute drive) and I didn't have the heart to whack em.

This critter was fooling me because while the shape was mostly krib like it didn't look that much different from my apistogramma and the markings were totally off (all the other kribs in the 120 have kribs marking but they all young less than 1/2 full grown size). When i dropped this guy into the 120 (I had netted him since i was taking fishes to the lfs but since i wasn't 100% sure it was a krib i left him behind); and when i got home i dropped him into the 29. Within a few hours he put on normal kribs marking and next time i go to the lfs he will make the trip. Hopefully by himself he won't get into mischief in the 29.

What will i do with those kribs in my 120 long term. It is a race. If i move before they cause mischief i'll keep them because i'll have lots of space for extra tanks including one for the kribs. Otherwise i'll drag them to the lfs.
