Apistogramma pulchra?

Hi.

This apisto when it counted on 1 cm T.L. came mixed next to an import of Dicrossus filamentosus from Czech Republic.

I'm afraid than this apisto is an A. pulchra, but accordin to Dr. Römmer page 704:

..."the first and sometimes the second (membranes) are black".

And the membranes of this apisto are all transparent.

Perhaps it can be an A. sp. "Pimentel".

Have a look at Apistogramma pertensis, there are better images in the Datz book than Römer's atlas.

I agree with Andrew. This is A. cf. pertensis, found along the Amazon from the Rio Tefé to the Rio Tapajós - including part of the Rio Negro. The fish Römer discusses as A. pulchra in his atlas is not A. pulchra. It is A. sp. Erdfress/Eartheater, a pertensis-group species. A. pulchra is an agassizii-group species.

Thanks for the explanation of the error in the Mergus Cichlid Atlas; it seems very interesting the Apistogramma sp. "Erdfress", I will be put to compile more information.

A. sp. Erdfresser was also called A. sp. Lyretail Purus in North America, & A. sp. Rondonia in Japan.
