Apistogramma Juruensis Location

Hey guys, In the SA dwarf cichlid book by Dieter Bork (page 80), they have a picture of a wild male "blue variant", it is a stunning juruensis speciman. Does anyone happen to know the location this variant is from?

Hi,
you are sure it's the juruensis? Most juruensis in the hobby are A. sp. blackskinn.

Erik is correct, most "A. juruensis" sold in the trade/hobby are actually A. sp. Schwarzkinn/Black-chin. The fish on page 80, however, is the 'real deal' from the Rio Juruá drainage, somewhere around Cruzeiro do Sul, Brazil. This is a typical form. It is rarely imported (off the 'beaten track' for commercial collectors, and hobbyist can't legally collect in Brazil).The other problem is that the photo is not typical of the species! In post-processing the image's contrast and color saturation are overly enhanced.

Thanks for the info, guys. Its too bad its off the beaten path even if the specimens are a little less colorful its still a good looking fish. Also if I may go off on a tangent. If the brazilian government is going to systematically destroy the habitats of various species through allowing the use of dams, I can't see why aquarists arent allowed to collect specimens in the wild. Just sayin.
