Hi folks, as I said, I am looking for a local supplier , to me, for any apistogramma species, shipping isn't an option because of the brutal winter weather we are having. so I would prefer to be able to pickup an fish that might be available. Thank you, Dave

After rereading my post, I decided that it sounds almost incomprehensible so, allow me to restate my earlier comment.
Folks, I am looking for pairs or trios of Apisto's in my area, either through a local fish store, a breeder, anybody looking to sell some babies. Specifically, I am interested in A. Cacatoides, A. Borelli, or A. Agassizi. I am willing to drive about 1 1/2 hrs to pickup any fish that you might have. Thanks for your help. Dave

Hi Linus, you are right , Nemo's did change their name, and also their product offerings. To bad they are reasonably close to me. I probably should call them on a weekly basis. Thanks for responding to my post, Dave

I have purchased apistos, pelvicachromis, nannacara anomola, dicrossus filamentosa, nannochromis parilius, from That Fish Place, in Centerville, Lancaster County, many times through the years. Also, I've purchased apistos recently from Hidden Reef, New Falls Road, PA (At present they have fire red agassizi, borellii opal, cacatuoides orange flash). I've also gotten apistos recently from Aquarium Center, Clementine New Jersey (hongsloi, cacatuoides). Keep an eye on Hidden Reef. They recently hired a specialist to revitalize their fresh water section. He has a close relationship with WetSpot and wants to setup several natural apisto and discus aquariums in the store. Met him last week. Since he was hired they've had four species of apistos in one month (macmasteri var. veijiti is the other).
I don't do mail order either. Not for the cold, but because the prices are too high for fish that I cannot select. The mail order sellers appear not to take into consideration this fact, and the shipping costs. I've also received mislabeled apistos. I feel bad for people who live in areas that have to relay exclusively on shipping.

Kevin, thanks for your reply, its kind of funny that I was in two of the places that you mentioned in your post, I am in the process of setting up another tank in my basement and saw the agassizi and cacatoides at That Pet place and the solo fire red athe Hidden Reef. that is really good news to know about the H.R. that is just about a 35 minute drive from me. Thanks for updating me on our local sources. David

Hi Dave,
No, but my brother Sean does some fishing tournaments off Cape May, I think Mako. How recently have you seen apistos at TFP? I'm going there this Saturday.
Good luck with your search!

I was there this past Saturday, there was a trio of Cacatoides and a" couple" of agassizi. The male agassizi was a pretty good looking fish. The Cacatoides hadn't really started to color up yet, but I did see some potential. All the apistogramma's at TFP were really young so hard to really judge, plus the lighting in those tanks seems to be really substandard. Have a safe trip out there. Dave
Can you tell me who is the apisto guy is at the Hidden Reef? Thanks

Thanks Dave. I have a weakness for agassizi, hope it's still there. The guy at HR is Harvey. If he's not there, you could ask for Wayne, the manager, who has also expressed interest in getting more SA dwarfs.
Apistos are so hard to find, we should alert each other when we see something. When I'm in my travels, if I see apistos, I'll let you know if you want.

Kevin, that is a great idea, I will give you a heads up if I see any apisto's in my travels to the LFS looking for deals or just killing time.

Hey Kevin, I made my way to THR after work and picked up a trio of A Veijiti, and 4 McMasteri. I was really looking for Borelli or Agassizi but it works. Good to have them back in my tanks after a pretty long hiatus. Thank you for your heads up. I appreciate it very much. David

good luck with your Viejitas, Kevin, out of curiosity how many tanks are you running? And how many species of Apistogramma do you currently have? David
