the only live foods i cultured for fry in the past were micro banana and walter worms, very easy and very productive once you remember to keep making new cultures at present I only have daphnia which I grow in an old mortar bin in the garden, i do find lots of hidden extras in there like glass...
thanks for the quick reply, yes, the only other fish in the tank are 3 or 4 cherry barbs and 3 or 4 bristle nose plecs,, all under half an inch in size, just fry that were not removed

sorry, no i don't know where they were collected, I bought a 1/4 box of them from Aquarium Glaser, I will check through my old mails and see if it gave a location, if not i will mail them and see if they can answer

amazing little fish, they are one tetra that fit right in on an Apistogramma forum!
I keep them and have had them spawn a number of times, but the fish have never got to the fry stage, they have sort of been left on the shelf in recent times, just distracted with things other than fish
