    Thanks for all the great info, My gourami pair just had some fry so if dwarf gouramis can survife the 60-70+ MD weather, i'll add some once they're adequite size. Other options would be Dwarf Cichlids, guppies, Danio/minnow, etc...

    pool filter sand vs. play sand

    Fluorite Black Sand works well for me. Unless you plan on putting plants in the tank though, don't use it. The nutrients inside will leak into the water and alakazam, you've got an algae problem.
