I'm happy it brings back good memories. It's not in use right now so I might but some carbon and floss on the bottom for some extra filtration in the tank.
Hey everyone,
Yesterday, I went to my LFS and bought 10 1-2cm baby Pelvicachromis spp.. Last night I left the in a Japanese breeding box that acts like an air driven hang on filter for acclamation (very usefull,). This morning, I was watchijg them and noticed one got out inoto the tank and...
Thanks,
I've got snails in there and they're doing a great job on clean up. When I get back home, I'll drop the water level, as a bonus the plants will get some more light exposure.
Thanks again,
Jonathan
Thanks for all the great info,
My gourami pair just had some fry so if dwarf gouramis can survife the 60-70+ MD weather, i'll add some once they're adequite size. Other options would be Dwarf Cichlids, guppies, Danio/minnow, etc...

About a week ago, I set up a ten gallon tank outside. It was orig for plants and they've been doing great, much better than I thought they would. But now for the question. I was wondering if some fish could survive. The substrate is peat caped by sand, and I don't know the ph...
Fluorite Black Sand works well for me. Unless you plan on putting plants in the tank though, don't use it. The nutrients inside will leak into the water and alakazam, you've got an algae problem.
A few months ago, I set up a planted tank with a Red Sea substrate (don't remember exact name). It claimed to keep the ph around 6.0-6.5, well, it did to well of a job. At first I ran out of testing solution, but the plants were all low ph plants and they were doing fine, so I decided to get...

As the tannin-soaked water flowed through the small stream, with the subdued light from above the tall trees, the hundreds of three inch fish swam in and out of their dense, leafy abodes. Some searched their surroundings...
